So excited to be partnering with Pure Encapsulations® on a series of posts to help you better understand how and why to supplement your diet.

At the very first hint of warmer temps I start thinking about summer produce! Asparagus, blueberries, tomatoes, watermelon and corn top my list of summer veggie love. I especially love roasted corn during the hot summer months. My friend Michele makes an amazing grilled street corn that is to die for…

This delicious roasted corn chowder is also on the summer rotation. And today I snuck in a little something extra to ramp up the nutrition factor.

I love making veg-heavy soups and stews, but oftentimes if they don’t contain beans or grains I don’t get full and I tend to overeat. This is mostly because these types of blended soups are usually pretty low in fiber.

Recently I was doing a little experimenting in the kitchen with my Pure Encapsulations PureLean® Fiber powder. I always add 2 scoops to my smoothies and I’ve played around with adding a few scoops to waffles and pancake recipes as well.

You know what’s coming next right?

You guessed it! I added fiber powder to the chowder! And it came out pretty amazing. There’s actually some sweetness in the fiber powder from the apple pectin and prune powder that brought out the natural sweetness of the corn, making this chowder super kid-friendly. Norah scarfed down a huge bowl hot from the stove!

Why Fiber Powder?

Pure Encapsulations’ PureLean® Fiber powder contains a blend of prebiotics and a mix of soluble and insoluble fibers that help to balance your gut bacteria and promote weight management, satiety, glycemic response, regularity, detoxification, and overall gut health.

The type of fiber used in PureLean® is great because not only does it easily incorporate into foods, it also doesn’t cause gas, bloating or GI distress like some other fibers can.

Each serving of PureLean® Fiber provides 6 grams fiber: 3.5 grams of soluble fiber from glucomannan, guar gum, apple pectin and prune fiber, and 3 grams insoluble fiber from flax seed and cellulose.

Soluble fiber helps slow the rate of digestion, promoting satiety, digestive health, nutrient absorption and healthy glycemic control. It enhances satiety by absorbing water and adding bulk in the digestive tract. Studies have suggested that glucomannan supports healthy weight management and lipid metabolism, and supports healthy glycemic control.†‡ PureLean® Fiber contains 1 gram of glucomannan.

Long story short, fiber plays a REALLY important role in keeping your digestive tract healthy and that can help with weight loss, GI health, and overall wellness.

PureLean® Fiber contains 6 grams of fiber per serving. I used 3 servings of powder in my recipe, adding a whopping 18 grams of fiber to my chowder!

If you’re interested in trying PureLean® Fiber, you can find it in my dispensary here.

Incorporating the Pure Encapsulations® fiber powder into this chowder was a no-brainer for me. It’s completely hidden (I promise you can’t taste it!) and makes the end result just a little bit thicker.

This Corn Chowder is creamy, just a little smokey, and chock-full of fresh vegetables, including corn, celery, onions, and carrots. Totally delicious!
